Our very own Iron Man's World Record Attempt!

Our very own Iron Man's World Record Attempt!

We⫪re very excited that our own commercial manager, Gareth Sanders, is making a world record attempt at the longest amount of time spent ironing non-stop! He⫪s doing it outside of the ASDA superstore up at Patchway in Bristol, and he⫪s starting on the 26th of October. The current record holder is Janette Hastings from Tumbarumba, New South Wales in Australia. She managed an exceptional 80 hours between April 1st and April 4th in 2012, during which time she completed 1,157 items. Gareth isn⫪t just aiming to do more than 80 hours - he⫪s aiming to shatter the previous record with a mind-blowing 100 hours of continuous ironing.[caption id="attachment_512" align="alignnone" width="618"]

Dramatic photo isn't it?!

Dramatic photo isn't it?![/caption]To make sure he gets there, he reckons he⫪s going to need 1,500 items to iron. If he runs out of clothes or if disaster strikes and the iron breaks, then the attempt immediately becomes void, so it⫪s essential that he has as many clothes to iron as possible! There are a surprising number of rules that he has to bear in mind, including the rule that he can only get five minutes of rest for every hour of completed ironing. He can save these up, but even after four hours of non-stop cleaning he only has twenty minutes of rest time, so it really is a mammoth task. We⫪re really looking forward to Gareth⫪s attempt not only representing Gleem, but also FRANK Water, the charity that he is raising money for and that we⫪ve supported for some time.[caption id="attachment_513" align="alignnone" width="513"]

Obviously we would absolutely love for you to donate to the cause, which you can do through Gareth⫪s JustGiving page: https://www.justgiving.com/marathonironing or even sign up to be a witness, as Gareth⫪s going to need people there throughout the attempt. Keep an eye on his website,http://marathonironing.weebly.com/ for more information. And of course, if you⫪re really supportive, bring along a load of your ironing!
